Pixelbox Design adhere firmly to the priciples of Environmentally sustainable web design, at every stage of our design process we are conscious of our impact on the planet. People used to think that it cost money and profits to make your company greener, but in fact the opposite is true, sustainability is sustainable because it's profitable. The business world is demanding greener, more responsible companies, and we've made it our mission to help support those organisations devoted to positive social and environmental change.
We conduct business according to standards that reach beyond contemporary business practices in addressing the needs of consumers, the community and the environment. We strive to operate in a socially ethical and environmentally sustainable manner.
A few examples of our green efforts
Paperless Office
- All of our invoicing and the majority of our business correspondence is via email and other electronic media.
- The majority of our business meetings are conducted via telephone or email eliminating the need to travel.
- All of our design proofs are presented to clients online.
Workspace
- We use 100% natural light during working hours.
- As our studio is at home, we have no need to travel to work.
Energy efficient equipment
- We only use energy efficient PC's and LCD Monitors with very low energy consumption (Energy Star Certified).
- All of our hosted websites, including this one are hosted on Carbon Neutral web servers (more details below).
Carbon Neutral
ICT equipment currently accounts for 3-4% of the world's carbon emissions, and 10% of the UK's energy bill. With a carbon footprint now equal to the aviation industry, ICT, and how businesses utilise ICT, is increasingly coming under the spotlight as governments seek to achieve carbon-cutting commitments.
Our data centre provider aims to counter this trend by offering our web design clients, individuals and companies a carbon positive web hosting service. They carefully calculate the carbon emissions of their whole business, and ensure that significantly more than this total is absorbed by their trees in Ransom Wood Business Park in Nottinghamshire.
To date they have planted over 100 trees, which at present absorb more than three times the carbon produced by our servers. Users of our hosting service can be confident that not only are they getting an ultra-reliable, highly functional web hosting solution, they are also helping the environment.
